While patrolling the area of 400 S. Center St. in Hildebran on Sept. 26, at about 12:40 a.m., investigators with the Burke County Sheriff’s Office observed a black 2014 Ford Fusion, with heavy damage to the passenger side and rear quarter panel, committing numerous traffic violations. The investigators were in the area due to numerous complaints and suspicious activity.Â
Investigators initiated a traffic stop with the vehicle making contact with the male driver and female passenger. The female was identified as Shannon Denise Knighton, who was also the registered owner. Investigators requested assistance from a NCDAC K9 unit. The K9 detected presence of narcotics, giving grounds to search the vehicle.
Approximately 22 grams of Methamphetamine, an unknown brown powder substance, marijuana, and various items of drug paraphernalia were seized. Knighton was transported to the Magistrate’s Office and charged with Felony Manufacture of Controlled Substance Schedule II and Felony Maintaining a Dwelling/Vehicle for Controlled Substances. Knighton was given a $10,000 secured bond and her next court date is set for Dec. 2.
