Jackie Hensley Abernathy, 65, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2024, at Amorem after a short period of declining health.
Born on Aug. 22, 1959, she was the daughter of Jack C. Hensley and the late Margie Mae Hildebran Hensley.
Jackie attended Summitt Community Church and formerly attended Mt. Home Baptist Church. Jackie worked at Western Carolina Center for 19 years. She later went to work for Morganton Eye Physicians for 27 years.
Jackie devoted her life to her grandchildren. She loved to travel to Florida and spend time with friends and family.
Jackie is survived by her daughters, Jennifer Abernathy (Edward Suh), Ashley Auldredge (Jeremy); grandchildren, Brooke Lawrence, Jordan Auldredge, Landon Auldredge, Emma Suh, Annalise Suh; stepsister, Cindy Stroupe, Beverly Stroupe; and her K-9 companion, Henry.
In addition to her mother, Jackie is preceded in death by her sister, Debra Hensley Benton; niece, Jessica Benton; and stepmother, Beatrice “Bea” Hensley.
The family will receive friends from 4:30-6 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2024. The funeral will follow in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home at 6 p.m., with the Rev. Rocky Hartman officiating.
