Shown above is the group attending the 50th reunion of the Valdese High School class of 1974, the last class to graduate from Valdese before East Burke High School opened. The reunion was held at the Waldensian Heritage Venue in Valdese on Aug. 10. There were 37 graduates attending, and five teachers. The group had a wonderful dinner, followed by a program of reminiscing, listening to stories from our time at Valdese High, recognition of departed classmates, and recognition of educators. Graduates in attendance were: Janet Abernathy Allman, Laura Campbell Beam, Louis Bounous, Laura Lingle Bowman, Mike Brittain, Bobby Burns, Brad Carswell, Teresa Dale Causby, Teresa Lowdermilk Cline, LaVenta Turner Collins, Debbie Lambert Dalmas, Roxie Benton Ellis, Randy Fletcher, Diane Martin Ford, Tommy Garrou, Paul Griffin, Cindy Carswell Hall, Robin Hamby Hyde, Cheri Abee Mabrey, Barry McCrary, Steve McGuire, Jannette Piercy Moore, Tommy Munday, Sharon Graham Murry, Derrick Odom, Audrey Lail Perselay, Kay Ledford Price, Nancy Carroll Pritchard, David Rust, Keith Satterwhite, Ginger Sams Stacy, Wayne Stephens, Robert Vinay, Cindy Arnold Wallace, Debbie Wallace Whittington, Ann Newton Wise, and Van Yancey. Teachers in attendance were: Elsie Whisnant, Sam Wilkinson, Jerry Murray, Roy Sweezy and Linda Massengill.
