The Paper’s prime downtown location offers convenient access to numerous local restaurants, a perk often enjoyed by the newsroom and advertising staff who celebrate their weekly publication with a Friday lunch outing. However, finding a place to eat on Mondays can be challenging, as many eateries close for the day.
Morganton Monday Lunch Spots: Only eight of the usual sixteen downtown restaurants are open for lunch on Mondays. These include Buck’s Pizza, The Grind Cafe, Swede’s Cafe, Limbertwig Cafe, Pat’s Snack Bar, Uncle Eee’s, Food Matters Cafe, and Ono Poke Bowl.
Valdese Monday Lunch Spots: Similarly, in Valdese, only five of the eight downtown restaurants serve lunch on Mondays: Chubby’s, Los Compadres, Myra’s, Taqueria El Mana, and Twin Brothers Pizza.
Reasons for Monday Closures: According to The Tasting Table, financial reasons and low customer demand often lead small, independently owned restaurants to close on Mondays. This day also allows owners and staff a day of rest and time for maintenance.
Handy Reference Guide: A convenient guide for Monday lunch options in Morganton and Valdese is provided for readers to cut out and keep for easy reference.
